Our approach to OBGYN care

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa plays a vital role in advancing health care through excellence in clinical care, education, and research. As part of a leading academic medical center, the department provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic services, including care for both normal and high-risk pregnancies, gynecologic oncology, and reproductive endocrinology.

Beyond delivering expert patient care at University of Iowa Health Care, the department is a hub for medical education and innovation. Faculty members are deeply involved in training the next generation of health care professionals - including medical students, residents, fellows, and practicing physicians through dynamic, hands-on learning experiences.

The department is also committed to advancing reproductive science through both basic and clinical research. Investigators lead studies that drive new discoveries in areas such as maternal-fetal health, infertility, and gynecologic cancers, reinforcing our mission to improve outcomes for patients across Iowa and beyond.
