Research opportunities

Research time in all Obstetrics and Gynecology fellowships is protected, as mandated by ACGME and ABOG. Fellows are paired with experienced mentors and expected to conduct research culminating in a thesis presented and defended prior to graduation.

Our faculty includes well-established researchers with well-funded research programs. Additionally, the University of Iowa has NIH funded facilities to support clinical and translational research. Outcomes-based research facilitated by a patient database tracking UIHC infertility patients since 1990.

Reproductive Science Research Division: Houses the Women’s Health Tissue Repository, including various biobanks (Maternal Fetal Tissue Bank, Paternal Contributions to Children’s Health Biobank, Well Woman Bank, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Biobank, Gynecologic Malignancies Biobank). Ultrasound reporting software and image storage are available for research.
