Clinical Care

  • High-Risk Obstetric Clinic (HROB Clinic): Scheduled five half days per week, fellows manage consultations and ongoing prenatal care for women with various maternal risk factors.
  • Obstetrical Ultrasound: Fellows perform hands-on ultrasound scanning, progressing from first trimester dating scans to full anatomy scans as their skills advance.
  • Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment (FDT) Clinic: Fellows manage patients with suspected or known fetal diagnoses, performing procedures like chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis under supervision.
  • Antepartum Service: Fellows act as functional attending staff, evaluating and managing antepartum and postpartum patients with daily rounds.
  • Labor and Delivery Supervisor: Incorporated in antepartum rotations, fellows manage labor and delivery patients, teaching and supervising residents and medical students.
  • Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU): Fellows receive hands-on training in critical care during their third year.
  • Elective Rotations: Options include advanced obstetric ultrasound, endocrinology, infectious disease, blood bank medicine, medical genetics, fetal echo/adult congenital heart disease, family planning, and research.  New electives may also be tailored around the fellow’s interests.

Research

  • Dedicated Year: The second year is focused on research, with fellows taking graduate courses in statistics and epidemiology and maintaining 10% clinical time.
