UI Health Care provides quaternary health care for the state of Iowa and the region, serving a complex referral patient population.
Clinical Care
- Multidisciplinary Environment: The program benefits from close collaborations with Urology, Colorectal Surgery, GI, and Radiology, providing a comprehensive learning experience for fellows.
- Evaluation and Treatment: Fellows learn a wide range of evaluation methods and surgical and nonsurgical treatments for pelvic floor disorders.
- International Experience: An elective international experience in surgical treatment of obstetric fistulas and other pelvic floor disorders is available.
Urogynecology-URPS
- Service Duration: Fellows complete 17 months on service in Urogynecology, working in outpatient, surgical, and inpatient settings.
- Clinic Locations: Outpatient care is provided in four locations, including Iowa River Landing and Davenport Outreach Clinics.
- Procedures: Office procedures like urodynamics, diagnostic and operative cystoscopy are performed at Iowa River Landing and Davenport Outreach Clinics.
Urology-URPS
- Rotation: Fellows spend 2-3 months per year on the Urology service, focusing on URPS urologic disorders and gaining experience in common urologic disorders.
Colorectal Surgery-Gastroenterology
- Rotation: Fellows spend one month in their first year and one month in their third year on this rotation, learning to evaluate and manage colorectal and gastrointestinal pelvic floor disorders.
