UI Health Care is renowned for cancer treatment, with its Tumor Registry recording approximately 2,500 new cases annually.

The Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship at University of Iowa Health Care offers comprehensive training in gynecologic cancer management and Graduates often secure positions at major academic centers. The three-year ACGME-accredited fellowship includes clinical care, education and conferences, program accreditation, and research opportunities.

The hospital participates in the National Cancer Institute's SEER Program and is home to Iowa's only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center, the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The University of Iowa is a founding member of the Gynecologic Oncology Group and actively engages in NRG protocols. The fellowship program collaborates closely with Medical Oncology, Surgery, Urology, Radiology, Radiation Oncology, and Palliative Care departments.

The division has continued to grow year over year. The clinical work includes surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy treatments. Six faculty, four advanced practice providers, and three fellows provide high quality, compassionate care to patients with gynecologic malignancies. The division is a member of the NRG oncology group and actively participates in both NCI, industry and PI-driven clinical trials. All faculty are well-versed in minimally invasive surgical techniques (both robotic and laparoscopic platforms), sentinel lymph node mapping, chemotherapy administration (intravenous, intraperitoneal, targeted therapies, and novel experimental agents) as well as major open abdominal and cytoreductive surgery.

Applications are accepted through ERAS. We currently match residents trained in obstetrics and gynecology.
