Research opportunities available across medical and undergraduate campuses

  • Faculty includes well-established researchers with NIH and VA funded research programs.
  • Research time in all Obstetric and Gynecology fellowships is protected, as mandated by ACGME and ABOG. Fellows are paired with experienced mentors and expected to conduct research culminating in a thesis.

Special Research Features

  • Reproductive Science Research Division: Houses the Women’s Health Tissue Repository, including various biobanks (Maternal Fetal Tissue Bank, Paternal Contributions to Children’s Health Biobank, Well Woman Bank, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Biobank, Gynecologic Malignancies Biobank). Ultrasound reporting software and image storage are available for research.
  • Gynecologic Oncology Division: Maintains a tumor tissue bank with clinical data from patients undergoing gynecologic surgery.
  • MFM Division: HRSA grant supports rural maternal health disparity research, focusing on preventing maternal death and severe illness.
  • REI Division: Outcomes-based research facilitated by a patient database tracking UIHC infertility patients since 1990.
  • Urogynecology Division: Pelvic Floor Disorders Research Registry (PFDR-R) for patients undergoing prolapse treatments. Fellows can access and propose analyses of PFDR-R data.
